The Story...

BYSOG, which means "handbag" in Armenian, is the brainchild of Vic and Chris Vartanian, better known in the handbag world as the "Manolucci brothers." The story of BYSOG stems back a number of generations. Born in Queens and raised in Syosset NY, Vic and Chris where introduced to fashion immediately. Their father John Manolucci  a.k.a. Varoujan Vartanian, a world famous singer, as well as a very reputable and exceptionally talented handbag maker in New York City, has owned a well-known and respected leather handbag factory since 1983, Manolucci, in the heart of New York's Fashion district. He has mentored the boys from the beginning, teaching them all the in's and out's that take some people a lifetime to learn. The boys' hail from a large family of Leather shoe, belt and bag makers located as close as LA or as far as France and South America, not to mention dad's brothers whom also work for some of the biggest brands in the world today, domestically and overseas.

On their mother Lena's side, Fashion as well as Art was just as much apart of the bloodline. In late 60's-80's her mother Maryam Chahanian an accomplished painter and dress maker, worked as a pattern maker and seamstress for Oscar del la Renta most of her career. Maryams' brother Dikran Cordagian, was also extremely well known for custom making Kathrine Hepburns shoes, and their great Aunt Marie Derkrikorian another accomplished dress maker, worked most of her career for Vera Wang as seamstress.

Their father began his work back in the old country, where three of his four brothers made custom leather baby shoes for the locals. The civil wars of their time forced them to take refuge in America, where they began to concentrate solely on luxury leather goods and manufacturing bags and belts in the mid 70's to Present day mostly for his contracted projects and private line, the "Manolucci" brand.

Over the course of their childhood and teenage years, Vic and Chris were your typical teenager's, playing sports and often getting into loads of trouble or "fun" as they refer to it. Despite their mischief they always seemed to find their way back to what they knew best, which was making bags with their father. During the years working with dad, the Manolucci facilities were offered to many fashion designers and design houses to develop new product and manufacture their goods. They boys had the fortunate opportunity to work under countless Commercial and Independent designers know around the world, in many phases of the business. Those influences were where they learned to design and develop beautiful silhouettes that capture our hearts today. Working under thousands of designers, they came to understand the important relationship between design and quality, and how it affects the consumer.

As the years go by, Vic and Chris continue to grow as a designer's and maker's, with hopes of bringing their collections to the luxury market and creating a permananet mark in Fashions' history books. In creating The BYSOG Bag Collection, they aim to be in our lives and in the lives of many generations to come.
